Set Up A Data Feed

Keep Your Products Up To Date!

Automated data feed is a convenient way to make sure your digital assistants stay up to date and recommend your latest product offering. Set it up once and zoovu will take care of the rest! We’ll download the current version of your product catalog, break it down into individual products and feed them into your assistant.

The only thing you need to do is allow zoovu to access your product data file via HTTP, HTTPS, SFTP or FTP server and schedule file download to take place at specific points in time.

Step 0: Set Up Your Products Manually

The zoovu platform requires that each of your products contains a value for so-called mandatory properties. What’s more, you might want to use a different file format and separator than our default CSV with values separated by a comma.

That’s why it’s recommended that you first set up your product collection manually to make sure all mandatory properties are mapped and zoovu can interpret your separators correctly.

To find out how you can manually set up your products, read our Get Started guide.

Step 1: Set Up The Connection With Your FTP

Once your product collection is ready, you can go ahead and set up your feed settings by scrolling to the Automated feed section in the right-hand side panel in the Products tab.

The Feed settings section is used to establish a connection with the feed server where your product file will be available to zoovu for download. To do this, please provide the following information:

  • URL of your HTTP or FTP server - you can specify a direct path to the file you want to download or just the directory if there is only one file to be downloaded
  • Username and password (if necessary for accessing your file)

If you decide to set up your feed using an SFTP server, you will need to whitelist the zoovu IP Address: Please, contact your hosting provider or let us know at in case of any questions.

Here are examples of what this might look like.

When you’re ready, click the Test connection button to see if zoovu could access the requested file.

Step 2: Schedule The Data Feed

In the next step, specify the interval at which zoovu will download and process your file as well as the time and date of the first feed. Once you’re done, click on the Activate feed button.

If everything’s fine, it will turn into Deactivate feed, which you can click later in case you decide to stop zoovu from downloading your product file.

When you hover over the Start date, a down arrow will appear to the right enabling you to set the date using a handy date picker.

Step 3: Monitor The Feed Activity

Once everything is up and running, you can monitor the activity of your data feeds, including the time of your last and next data imports. You’ll notice that handy boxes now appear in the Products tab: in the Automated feed section and under Summary data.

You can also view the History of your past feeds to check how your data changed overtime.
